Dr. Shawn Xu
Biography

Vice President of Sustaine Technologies, Dr. Shawn Yunsheng XU, has worked for more than 20 years in engineering research and development in thermal engineering and HVAC systems. He has worked on ground source heat pumps since 1997. He is an active member of the International Ground Source Heat Pump Association (IGSHPA), and is the founder and now the Director of the IGSHPA Chinese Chapter formed in 2002. His intensive activity in China is well recognized in both the Chinese and American ground source heat pump industry.

Dr. XU is one of the few professionals in the ground source heat pump industry in the Chinese market who is an accredited installer certified by IGSHPA. He designed and supervised the installation of several of the first closed-loop ground source heat pump systems constructed in China. He is responsible for all technical proposals, designs, and installations conducted by Sustaine (Ningbo). He has trained the engineering staff of Sustaine (Ningbo) in ground source heat pump installations. Dr. XU has been an invited technical speaker before the China Development and Reforming Committee and has been active in committees for renewable energy and energy efficiency of the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology. He has made technical presentations to numerous city mayors and numerous HVAC design institutes throughout China.

Dr. XU spent more than 9 months in Beijing to provide technical services and management of the IUEP project until its completion the end of 2004. The engineering team includes staff from Sustaine (Ningbo), and newly hired engineers in Beijing.
