Internship in Alternative Fuel Technology

Renewable Alternatives, as a partner in the ALL-CRAFT project, is developing storage technologies for natural gas, based on a porous carbon made from Missouri waste corncob and synthetic materials. Uses for these technologies include fuel tanks in clean automobiles, collection of natural gas from landfills and large-scale shipping of natural gas from Alaska. Click here for more information about the ALL-CRAFT project.

We now have the opportunity to train undergraduates to become future leaders in alternative energy technology, through academic-year and summer research internships.

Eligibility: Undergraduates with a math/science/engineering background, an interest in pursuing a major in one of these areas, and an interest in interdisciplinary work, transforming scientific discoveries into technological innovations, and helping build a sustainable world. If possible, the summer internships at the Midwest Research Institute will be filled by students whose homes are in Kansas City. Students from underrepresented groups are strongly encouraged to apply.

Pay: Summer internship: Stipend of $3,000, one hour of academic credit, travel to and from Columbia, on-campus housing and meals. Academic-year internships: Stipend of $1,000, three hours of academic credit, travel to and from Columbia.

Deadlines: Summer internships: March 7, 2005, or until positions are filled. Academic-year internships: May 16, or until positions are filled.

Apply now (.pdf file) for an internship in the ALL-CRAFT project for Summer 2005 (June 6 - July 29, 8 weeks) and/or for the academic year 2005/06.
